VIENNA
EXCURSION TO BUDAPEST
This day trip takes you to the ‘Paris of the East’. After arrival in Budapest, there is free time for lunch (not included). In the early afternoon, there is a guided city tour of Hungary’s capital, where we will visit the Fishermen’s Bastion with Mathias Church. You will also have the opportunity to stroll around the castle area. We then pass by the impressive House of Parliament and Heroes Square. Before the drive back to Vienna, there will be some free time for shopping.
HOUSE OF MUSIC
House of Music is an interactive sound museum, located in the city centre: four floors dedicated to the world of music and sound. You will be invited on a musical journey, where music becomes audible and visible in real and virtual rooms. The glass-covered Inner Courtyard provides a relaxing atmosphere, while in the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Museum you will discover the history of this famous orchestra. The former private apartments of the first leader of the Viennese Court Opera Company and founder of the Vienna Philharmonic are now home to historic treasures from the Philharmonic Archives. The New Year’s Concert is probably the single most famous concert in the world. Experience the only authorised short version (35 minutes) of the Concert in a specially conceived concert hall, where top quality imaging and sound allow you to immerse yourself in this unique cultural event.
STRAUSS AND MOZART CONCERT
This Concert takes place in the Wiener Kursalon, which is located in the beautiful Stadtpark where the famous statue of Johann Strauss is. The famous master works of Strauss and Mozart are performed by the very professional Salon Orchestra, opera singers, and ballet dancers.
SALZBURG
SALZKAMMERGUT/LAKES AND MOUNTAINS
Join this tour to the lake district, which shows the scenic beauty surrounding the city of Salzburg. The tour will take you past the villages of Hof, Fuschl and St Gilgen to St Wolfgang, where we visit the church with its famous altar by Michael Pacher and the renowned White Horse Inn. On the boat trip across lake Wolfgangsee (during the summer months only) you can enjoy the splendours of the most romantic landscape surrounding the lake. Passing the Krottensee we arrive at Mondsee (wedding church of the Sound of Music movie) for a break before returning to Salzburg.
CANDLELIGHT DINNER AND CONCERT AT FORTRESS
Take the opportunity and enjoy a romantic 4-course candlelight dinner (pastry with spread / cream of potato soup / stuffed breast of chicken with buttered noodles and seasonal vegetables / Mozart dessert variations) in a restaurant of the 900 year old fortress Hohensalzburg. Afterwards listen to the great Mozart concert either in the Princes’ chamber – the most magnificent room in the fortress Hohensalzburg – or in the “castle tavern” with a wonderful view over the city and countryside of Salzburg. The Salzburg fortress concert is one of the largest chamber of music organisations in the world, producing more than 300 concerts annually.
MOZART CITY TOUR
Stroll through Mozart’s Salzburg and take a closer look at the main sights of this picturesque city. The tour begins by the Palace of Mirabell which was built in year 1606 and today home to the office of the local Mayor and city offices. Then pass the Mozarteum (University of Music) one of the world’s most prestigious music academies. You will arrive in Markart Square with the Landestheatre (The Regional Theatre), The Trinity Church and Mozart’s Wohnhaus (Mozart’s Residence), where the composer lived for many years. Crossing over the Salzach (Salt) river you will have a wonderful view of this magical city. You will pass by the Law Courts on the way to the Hellbrunn Palace where you will have a short photo stop. Hellbrunn Palace was built at the start of the 17th century to the design of the great architect Santino Solari and used as a hunting lodge and weekend residence by Salzburg’s Archbishops. On the way back to the city centre you will pass by the Palace of Frohnburg and the Nonnberg Abbey, situated beneath the impressive Hohensalzburg Fortress, before entering the heart of the city through the Siegmunds Gate. Once in the old city you will pass by the Festival Halls, Old University, Horse Pond, Getreidegasse and the Blasius Church. The tour finishes in Mozart Square where you will see the famous Mozart statue and the Cathedral.
SALT MINES & CELTIC VILLAGE
Enjoy an exciting tour to one of the oldest salt mines in the world. On the way from Salzburg to Hallein you will pass the pilgrimage church of Durrnberg and the authentically reconstructed Celtic village on the Mountain Durrnberg which gives you an insight into the life of the Celts about 2500 years ago. You are accompanied through the tunnel by miners and also get interesting information to the extraction of the so-called ‘white gold’ by the Archbishop Wolf Dietrich (1587-1612) personally on a screen. Then you will have a short trip on a boat across an underground lake.
