It is encircled by the Ringstrasse (Ring Road), a grand boulevard constructed along the old city walls, which were torn down at the end of the 19th century. Along the Ringstrasse are many famous and grand buildings, including the Rathaus, the Austrian Parliament, the Hofburg Palace, the Natural History Museum, the Museum of Art History (Kunsthistorisches Museum), and the State Opera House. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. Later in the afternoon, proceed for the city tour. See the most significant museums, monuments and buildings along the Ringstrasse as well as gorgeous castles and typical Vienna sights such as the “Heuriger” in Grinzing or the Vienna Prater and also the world famous Schonbrunn palace. Overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 2: Vienna – Salzburg

    This morning after breakfast, transfer on your own to the station to board your train to Salzburg. Upon arrival in Salzburg, transfer to your hotel on your own. Rest of the day will be at leisure. Salzburg is the 4th largest city in Austria and the capital of the federal state of Salzburg. Salzburg`s “Old Town” with its world famous baroque architecture is one of the best-preserved city centers north of the Alps, and was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The city is noted for its Alpine setting. It is the birthplace of Mozart and the setting for parts of the musical and film “Sound of Music”. Salzburg is on the banks of the Salzach River, at the northern boundary of the Alps. The mountains located in south of Salzburg contrast with the rolling plains towards the north. The closest alpine peak – the 1972m Untersberg – is only a few kilometers from the city center. The Altstadt, or “old town”, is dominated by its baroque towers and churches and the massive Festung Hohensalzburg. This area is surrounded by two smaller mountains, the Monchsberg and Kapuzinerberg as the green lung of the city. Overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 3: Salzburg

    After breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken for a tour called “Sound of Music Tour”. Relive the true story of the Von Trapp family which was filmed as the ‘Sound of Music’ in the Salzburg area. The tour, which has been Salzburg’s most popular tour for over 20 years, is a combination of sightseeing in this historical city itself and in the beautiful lakes and mountains area known as the Salzkammergut, which is also a famous musical and cultural centre. The highlights and film locations of the ‘Sound of Music’, such as the beautiful gardens in Hellbrunn (where Liesl and Rolf sang ‘I am 16 going on 17’), and the wedding church in Mondsee are a treat for all fans of the film. At the end of the tour, don’t forget to claim your free Edelweiss cocktail at the Jugend und Familiegastehaus close to the Fortress – just ask your Guide for directions! Rest of the evening will be at leisure. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Activity Options

This day trip takes you to the ‘Paris of the East’. After arrival in Budapest, there is free time for lunch (not included). In the early afternoon, there is a guided city tour of Hungary’s capital, where we will visit the Fishermen’s Bastion with Mathias Church. You will also have the opportunity to stroll around the castle area. We then pass by the impressive House of Parliament and Heroes Square. Before the drive back to Vienna, there will be some free time for shopping.

House of Music is an interactive sound museum, located in the city centre: four floors dedicated to the world of music and sound. You will be invited on a musical journey, where music becomes audible and visible in real and virtual rooms. The glass-covered Inner Courtyard provides a relaxing atmosphere, while in the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Museum you will discover the history of this famous orchestra. The former private apartments of the first leader of the Viennese Court Opera Company and founder of the Vienna Philharmonic are now home to historic treasures from the Philharmonic Archives. The New Year’s Concert is probably the single most famous concert in the world. Experience the only authorised short version (35 minutes) of the Concert in a specially conceived concert hall, where top quality imaging and sound allow you to immerse yourself in this unique cultural event.

This Concert takes place in the Wiener Kursalon, which is located in the beautiful Stadtpark where the famous statue of Johann Strauss is. The famous master works of Strauss and Mozart are performed by the very professional Salon Orchestra, opera singers, and ballet dancers.

Join this tour to the lake district, which shows the scenic beauty surrounding the city of Salzburg. The tour will take you past the villages of Hof, Fuschl and St Gilgen to St Wolfgang, where we visit the church with its famous altar by Michael Pacher and the renowned White Horse Inn. On the boat trip across lake Wolfgangsee (during the summer months only) you can enjoy the splendours of the most romantic landscape surrounding the lake. Passing the Krottensee we arrive at Mondsee (wedding church of the Sound of Music movie) for a break before returning to Salzburg.

Take the opportunity and enjoy a romantic 4-course candlelight dinner (pastry with spread / cream of potato soup / stuffed breast of chicken with buttered noodles and seasonal vegetables / Mozart dessert variations) in a restaurant of the 900 year old fortress Hohensalzburg. Afterwards listen to the great Mozart concert either in the Princes’ chamber – the most magnificent room in the fortress Hohensalzburg – or in the “castle tavern” with a wonderful view over the city and countryside of Salzburg. The Salzburg fortress concert is one of the largest chamber of music organisations in the world, producing more than 300 concerts annually.

Stroll through Mozart’s Salzburg and take a closer look at the main sights of this picturesque city. The tour begins by the Palace of Mirabell which was built in year 1606 and today home to the office of the local Mayor and city offices. Then pass the Mozarteum (University of Music) one of the world’s most prestigious music academies. You will arrive in Markart Square with the Landestheatre (The Regional Theatre), The Trinity Church and Mozart’s Wohnhaus (Mozart’s Residence), where the composer lived for many years. Crossing over the Salzach (Salt) river you will have a wonderful view of this magical city. You will pass by the Law Courts on the way to the Hellbrunn Palace where you will have a short photo stop. Hellbrunn Palace was built at the start of the 17th century to the design of the great architect Santino Solari and used as a hunting lodge and weekend residence by Salzburg’s Archbishops. On the way back to the city centre you will pass by the Palace of Frohnburg and the Nonnberg Abbey, situated beneath the impressive Hohensalzburg Fortress, before entering the heart of the city through the Siegmunds Gate. Once in the old city you will pass by the Festival Halls, Old University, Horse Pond, Getreidegasse and the Blasius Church. The tour finishes in Mozart Square where you will see the famous Mozart statue and the Cathedral.

Enjoy an exciting tour to one of the oldest salt mines in the world. On the way from Salzburg to Hallein you will pass the pilgrimage church of Durrnberg and the authentically reconstructed Celtic village on the Mountain Durrnberg which gives you an insight into the life of the Celts about 2500 years ago. You are accompanied through the tunnel by miners and also get interesting information to the extraction of the so-called ‘white gold’ by the Archbishop Wolf Dietrich (1587-1612) personally on a screen. Then you will have a short trip on a boat across an underground lake.

Enjoy a typical Tyrolean evening with an attractive programme which only includes authentic folk music. See the dancers and shoe slapping and listen to the Tyrolean songs and yodelling. You will never forget this evening with an authentic entertainment and original costumes. Don’t keep your hands and feet still and dance to the music! Additionally enjoy a delicious 3 – course menu during the show. ***** SAMPLE MENU ***** Herb Cream soup; “Vienna Style” escalope (Turkey) with potatoes and salad; Applestrudel with whipped cream;
